Hi Anthony,

Unfortunately this is now one of the older WMF ranges and is no longer listed on WMF's website. We have only been able to find this range available as a set.

Thanks for the question Nicholas, It's best to keep your Saucepan size as close as possible to the hob size. Pans that overhang won’t heat properly around the edges, and pans that are too small may not be recognised.

That said your example of only a 2 cm difference should be ok but the larger the difference the more you could find an uneven heat distribution at the edges.

Hope this helps! If any of our other readers have practical experience with induction cooking please leave a comment too!

Do you happen to know whether on an induction hob one can use saucepans larger than the quoted size of a heating area? For example, can one use a 23 cm diameter saucepan on a 21 cm diameter heating area?

Hi Gerry,

Thanks for your message. I would first of all always recommend that you go into a store and "try" a saucepan to see if you are happy with the weight and feel as very few online retailers include weight.

A Le Creuset Cast Iron Saucepan set while great quality is awfully heavy as you note. One option is Le Creuset Tri ply Stainless Steel Saucepans <a href="http://www.awin1.com/cread.php?platform=dl&awinmid=1203&awinaffid=83581&clickref=&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.johnlewis.com%2F16515%2FRange.aspx" rel="nofollow">available here at John Lewis</a>
Each item is made from a 3-layer sandwich of stainless steel, with an aluminium core to spread the heat evenly, so there are no hotspots. The stainless steel means that they are much much lighter than a cast iron saucepan, however they are NOT the lightest saucepans in the world, but I feel they are the right mix of weight and quality.

I hope this helps!

Could anyone recommend a set of saucepans suitable for an induction hob that are not heavy. This is for my Mother who has recently moved and the new home has a super kitchen but we're unable to cook anything as she has 'old' pans!! Le Creuset is too heavy for her to lift, is the Meyer set lighter, it says heavy gauge? Help we're getting hungry!
